Enki Bilal was born in Yugoslavia and moved to Paris, France as a child, where he went on to become recognized as one of the world's most talented graphic artists. Enki Bilal's graphic novels are published in more than fifteen languages around the world and are all best sellers. Bilal is also a film director, having directed the films BUNKER PALACE HOTEL and TOKYO MOON. He wrote and directedd IMMORTAL, released in 2004, based on his famous NIKOPOL TRILOGY graphic novels. 

In the TOWNSCAPES collection, Bilal collaborates with writer Pierre Christin to tell three tales of modern day tons caught up in fantastica circumstances. THE CRUISE OF LOST SOULS tells of a mysterious military device and its surprising effects on a remote farming town. SHIP OF STONE is the story of a fishing village and a local warlock as they confront unscrupulous property developers. In THE TOWN THAT DIDN'T EXIST, a small town fallen on hard times is revitalized by the unusual vision of an insightful young woman. Each storry pressents a timeless ale set in the trappings of the present, with a yearning towards the fables of yesterday.
